Berger and OhioHealth are working together to improve health and wellness in Pickaway County. As partners, we are focused on pursuing strategic opportunities to discover what can be accomplished for our patients and our communities.
The business of running hospitals is being turned upside down, and as a result, change is occurring at every hospital in the nation. Instead of acting independently and competitively with all others, tomorrow’s successful hospitals will work in true partnership with neighboring hospitals, physicians and post-acute care providers to ensure they can long serve their communities. Our partnership will enable Berger to meet – and more importantly – overcome difficult industry and local challenges.
Through this partnership, patients can expect to see continued and new benefits and both organizations will be stronger in the years ahead. Together, we will be focused on how we can:
At its core, the partnership between Berger and OhioHealth is a joint commitment by the two organizations to enable the community to receive expert care close to home. Berger and OhioHealth have already been partnering successfully to bring cardiology experts to Pickaway County. Throughout this new strategic partnership, we will build upon this success to continue to enhance local access to cardiology services and expand it to primary care, neurosciences and more.

For 85 years, Berger has been a vital partner for Pickaway County. We are the largest community employer, contributing more than $51.2 million in economic impact in 2012 and providing approximately $17.9 million in community support in 2013. Both of our organizations recognize the value of Berger in connecting with patients, supporting the needs and wellness of the community and being an economic engine for the community’s overall success. Berger’s partnership with OhioHealth makes Berger stronger, ultimately enabling all of this to continue.

Patients, family and friends are always our top priority. We realize that a hospital stay or even a visit can be stressful, but we aim to make your experience a positive one, regardless of the circumstances. In addition to a welcome station at the main entrance of the hospital we have a patient advocate to help all patients and families resolve any questions or concerns you may have during your visit.

We’re proud to welcome over 400 volunteers to our Berger family. Working with patients, families and staff to create an environment of care and support, our volunteers make Berger a better place for everyone.
How do I get involved?
Any individual, couple or teen over the age of 14 is welcome to join our team. Areas such as patient care, outreach programs, delivery services, clerical services and our gift shop can all benefit from your help. Your sharing provides many benefits for patients, community and most importantly, you! Our volunteers provided over 15,000 hours of service last year.
How do I get started?
It’s as simple as meeting with one of our volunteer coordinators for a brief conversation. We’ll learn about your skills, interests and the amount of time you have to offer. We will then work to match you with a volunteer assignment that complements your skills, interests and experience. After that, you’ll participate in our orientation program to learn more about the health system and you will soon be on your way to making an impact!
