(CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio) – Ready to quit smoking, but not sure how? Berger Health System is offering a program to help smokers in our community better their health by kicking the habit – for good. The Stay Quit Tobacco Treatment Program is a six-week program that helps participants gain confidence and equip them with the tools to be successful in tobacco cessation.

The treatment approach focuses on physical, behavioral and psychological components of nicotine addiction. Evidence shows that people who participate in a tobacco treatment program combined with nicotine replacement products or medication have a significantly greater success rate than those who try other methods such as “cold turkey.”

Berger team members Rod Stith, clinical manager, cardiopulmonary; Jody Roese, RN, cardiology and Kim Malcolm, RN, MSN, cardiac rehabilitation, attended an intensive week-long training/testing program through The Breathing Association to become certified tobacco treatment specialists (CTTS). Stephanie McConnell, respiratory therapist, is scheduled to attend the program this September and join our training team.

The Berger Hospital Gift Shop and Berger Health Foundation were instrumental in providing funds for the required training in order to provide this program to our community. This was a unique contribution in that the program will have a tremendous impact on our community.

If you are interested in the program, please call (740) 420-8810 or 8240 to register.
