(CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio) – Berger Health System was one of just 28 state hospitals and healthcare systems recently honored by the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) for its successful hospital safety programs and exemplary employee safety records.
Joined on the list by organizations like Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, Berger was the lone Central Ohio healthcare system to receive the Hospital Safety Award.
“To receive an award like this truly means a lot to this organization,” said Tim Colburn, Berger Health System President and CEO. “A great deal of effort and focus was placed on creating and reinforcing our culture of safety. To be recognized as one of Ohio’s best is a reflection of our progressive direction as a health care system.”
Berger’s “Top 20 Percent” honor was one of 14 bestowed on Ohio hospitals and healthcare systems and marks the second consecutive year for the Circleville-based organization to be included among the honorees. The back-to-back awards are the culmination of a nearly seven-year program which focused on safety efforts across the organization.
“Whether it is in a lab, by a patient’s bed or in the hallways of our facilities, this award shows that Berger employees are dedicated to providing safe conditions in which to deliver our first class care,” said Suzanne Welker, Chief Human Resources Officer at Berger.
