Support Groups
Family Caregiver Support Group
The Family Caregiver Support Group (FCSG) is designed for community members taking care of loved ones and is open to anyone, any age to provide them the opportunity to share insight and offer support to others experiencing similar circumstances. Members can share common concerns, as well as tips and suggestions for issues facing caregivers. There is no cost to become a part of the group and anyone interested is welcome to attend. Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Pickaway County Library. Sponsored jointly by the Senior Center and Circle of Caring. For more information, contact Jane Stevens, Senior Center at (740) 474-8831 or Martha Buller, Circle of Caring at (740) 474-7844.
Stroke Support Group
The Stroke Support Group gives stroke survivors and their family members, friends and/or caregivers the opportunity to meet with others who are dealing with similar situations. Participating in support groups is an important part of recovery. It helps members learn more about strokes, share their experiences, and become inspired to move forward after a stroke. By meeting regularly, members help one another face and overcome common challenges by sharing experiences and encouraging one another. The meetings often feature a guest speaker who addresses topics relating to the stroke survivor. The group meets every other month, in the odd months, on the fourth Thursday (unless around a holiday then the date will be adjusted), from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Community Room. The stroke support group is free and open to the community. For more information, contact Angie Guiler, RN, Rehab Clinical Coordinator at 740-420-8413.
Bereavement Support Group
Berger Hospice Care hosts a bereavement support luncheon on the third Thursday of every month at noon. The group's purpose is to give attendees the opportunity to share their struggles with others who are dealing with a similar loss. Those interested in participating do not have to utilize Berger Hospice Care services to attend the luncheon. Anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one is invited to attend for the opportunity to informally chat with other members and the Berger Hospice bereavement staff. All meetings are held at Gibson's Cafe, 506 North Court Street and are open to the community. No reservations necessary. For more information, call Berger Hospice Care at 740.420.7950.
The "Alert, Well and Keep Energetic" (AWAKE) Group
