Wound Care Clinic

The Wound Care Clinic at Berger Health System provides comprehensive care to patients with various types of wounds including: chronic, non-healing wounds, burns, and infected surgical sites. A full continuum of care from wound assessment to discharge planning.

Because many wounds are caused by the complications of diabetes, the Wound Care Clinic offers educational "Living with Diabetes" classes to the community.

Services Offered:

Comprehensive assessment of patient's past medical history and current health status
Physician evaluation to determine the best treatment options for wound care
On-side debridement of wounds
The most current treatments available for chronic wounds
Frequent follow-up to ensure wound healing is expected
Dressing changes and Wound V.A.C. applications
Lab and diagnostic testing in the facility
Nutrition evaluation
Assistance with obtaining wound dressings
Self-care education

Our specially trained staff will work to determine the causes of patients' wounds, educate patients, and develop an optimal wound-healing environment. Staff members also develop individual patient care plans that will assist in the healing of chronic wounds and the prevention of potential amputations.

If advanced vascular care is needed, a referral will be made to a local vascular surgeon.
