Jordanne Renner

I began my journey at the Rhode Island School of Design in September of 1999; and in 2000 decided that photography was the path I should take rather than apparel design. While at RISD, I took several Liberal Arts courses at Brown University and various Studio Arts courses abroad at SACI in Florence, Italy. I had two phenomenal internships in the 'Big Apple', and also became involved with a community-teaching program. I entitled it "Photography and the Visual Diary" at a local life skills center in Cranston, Rhode Island after my return from Italy my junior year. The program was meant to influence young adults/adolescents by developing an alternative form of expression rather than voicing their frustrations, thoughts, etc., through violence, drugs, gangs. It was a success with a gallery exhibit at RISD at the end of the term.

After graduating from RISD, I became the substitute for the Arts Department in my local secondary school district; and until recently, I was teaching/assisting in photography at the Studio Arts Center International in Florence, Italy. During this time, I began to explore landscapes (and who wouldn't with Tuscany as your backdrop) and the various ways of navigating my experiences. Thus, the "Reconstructed Landscape" collective images were born with my hunger to portray the environment I experienced daily in a diarist form.

Italy was the first place that I showed my work in galleries outside of college life. Now I have returned to the U.S. of A. and continue to shoot and show my work in galleries across the country. This body continues to evolve as I collect new experiences; and ultimately they will become an installation environment so the viewer is encompassed with the space.

Sonsearay Grady

Sonsearay Grady has been a long time resident of Pickaway County. She graduated from Westfall Highschool in 1994 and will be graduating from Ohio State University at the end of fall quarter in December 2007. She has earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in drawing and painting. In addition to the B.F.A., she also earned a minor in Art History with a concentration in Modern Art. Throughout her four years at OSU, she hasa won numerous scholarships including the Mortar Board Honor Society and the Critical Difference for Women Re-entry scholarship. She also took 1st place at The Pump House Center for the Arts, in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Sonsearay is currently researching and writing grants for an internship at Roy G Biv, a gallery in the Short North Gallery district, in Columbus, Ohio, where, on the first Saturday of the month, "The Gallery Hop" makes Columbus' art district feel like NYC.

Having experimented and worked with all mediums and subject matter, Sonsearay continues to return to the human figure. Her thesis exhibition this December will contain portrait work of other artists who have helped to define the Columbus art scene. She allows the energy of each artist to be expressed with color and motion. She has also been working with memory and perception and how they effect our understanding of the world today.

After graduation, Sonsearay plans to continue to work with the human figure, with a concentration on the portraiture. She is in the process of setting up a new studio and gallery space in the historic 2nd Street in Chillicothe, Ohio. Sonsearay hopes to eventually teach her love and passion for the arts to others.
