Circle of Caring Garden Gala Poster Winners

Circleville, OH -- May 31, 2007 McDowell Exchange School art students provided their talent to help promote the 9th Annual Garden Gala, being sponsored by Circle of Caring on June 9 and 10. The students created posters which are now displayed in local businesses to publicize the event.

The Garden Gala committee selected the following students as winners of the poster contest: Jessie Colburn, 1st place; Tracie Messer, 2nd place; Colin Merrill, 3rd place; Lindsay Shaffer and Joshua McCormach, honorable mention.

The Garden Gala will feature tours of six residential gardens and Trinity Lutheran Church's Biblical Garden. The event is Saturday, June 9 from 3-8 p.m. and Sunday, June 10 from 1-5 p.m. Music and light refreshments will be available at some locations.

The tour features the following gardens:

  • 7213 Bell Station Rd., Circleville
  • 4408 Bell Station Rd., Circleville
  • 12413 Gibson Rd., Ashville (Stop by Scioto Blooms Greenhouse while in this area to receive a free plant -- 13071 Walker Rd.)
  • 517 Bowers Ct., Circleville
  • 406 Havenwood Ct., Circleville
  • 574 Oakland Terrace, Circleville
  • Biblical Garden at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound St., Circleville


Tickets can be purchased in advance for $7 at Rhoads Farm Market, Royal Gardens and Goodwin's Restaurant in Circleville and Engel's Landscaping in Ashville. Tickets can be purchased during the event for $8 at any of the garden locations.

Circle of Caring, founded in 1997, is a Faith in Action program initially funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Its mission is to assist the frail and elderly as well as people living with disabilities, and their families, on a casual basis. Circle of Caring provides transportation, handyman chores, yard work, shopping, light housekeeping, friendly visiting in person and by phone, respite care, and ramp building. All of these efforts are designed to help those served to maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life in their own homes. Donations to Circle of Caring are administered through the Berger Health Foundation, with a specific purpose fund established to assure all gifts are used to operate this community volunteer program. Additional support is received from United Way of Pickaway County, local churches and the community.
