Family Donates to Circle of Caring

Circleville, OH -- May 29, 2007 James and Milagros Davis recently presented a check for $400 to Circle of Caring in appreciation of the assistance they received with building a ramp at their home.

Jim has experienced trouble with balance and circulation for nearly a year, causing him to be in a wheelchair most of the time and use a walker occasionally. Prior to the new ramp being built, Mila would help Jim get in and out of the house using a walker on the steps, which was becoming more and more difficult.

The Davis' pastor, Ty Myers, suggested they contact Circle of Caring for assistance. Circle of Caring coordinator Martha Buller enlisted the help of four volunteers to build the Davis' a ramp.

"We feel so blessed," said Mila Davis. "This is God's work. People helping people from the heart, and we are so thankful."

According to the Davis', their donation was just a small way of giving back to the community. The Circle of Caring volunteers helped them, and they hope their gift makes it possible for Circle of Caring to help others.

Circle of Caring, founded in 1997, is a Faith in Action program initially funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Its mission is to assist the frail and elderly as well as people living with disabilities, and their families, on a casual basis. Circle of Caring provides transportation, handyman chores, yard work, shopping, light housekeeping, friendly visiting in person and by phone, respite care and ramp building. All of these efforts are designed to help those served to maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life in their own homes. Donations to Circle of Caring are administered through the Berger Health Foundation, with a specific purpose fund established to assure all gifts are used to operate this community volunteer program. Additional support is received from United Way of Pickaway County, local churches and the community.

If you or someone you love could benefit from Circle of Caring assistance, please call 474-7844.
