Circle of Caring Garden Gala Huge Success

Circleville, OH -- June 28, 2007 Gardeners gathered and garnered many new ideas as they enjoyed Circle of Caring's 9th Annual Garden Gala on June 9 and 10. The event, which featured six residential gardens, raised nearly $2,500 for the Circle of Caring program.

This year's tour committee was chaired by Stephanie Patrick, and members were Nancy Shollenberger, Carol Bowling, Carly Neff, Claudi Miga, Rick Patterson, and John Beck.

Community members who featured their gardens on the tour were Jim and Mary Jo Ballou, Bob and Carolyn Clemons, Patty Kuun, Bob and Mary Miller, Randy and Debbie Rush, Dick and Teda Theis, and Trinity Lutheran Church's Biblical Garden.

Circle of Caring would like to offer a special thank you to the generous sponsors of the event. Yellow Bud Sponsors included Amity Care Home Healthcare Services, Jim and Ramona Edman, Four J Properties, Inc., Red Barn Screen Printing & Embroidering, The Savings Bank, and Zwayer & Associates Insurance. Goodwin's Family Restaurant was a Green Thumb Sponsor. Rhoads Farm Market provided a garden stone to each of the families on the tour, and Hummel & Plum Insurance Agency was the ticket sponsor. Door prizes were donated by Pickaway County Garden Club, Gardenwood Garden Club, Dick Theis, Steve Seavolt, Monrovian Garden Club, Circleville Garden Club, Derby Garden Club and Good Thymes, Good Friends Herb Club.

Attendees were able to enjoy music at two of the locations. Megan Rainey, on keyboard, and Karen Hall, COC volunteer, on dulcimer, played at the Clemons residence. Pat Beathard and Studio One students Lisbeth Matz and Libby Schwalbauch sang for guests at the Rush home.

Circle of Caring-Faith in Action was founded in 1997. Its mission is to assist the frail and elderly as well as people living with disabilities and their families on a casual basis. Circle of Caring provides transportation, handyman chores, yard work, shopping, light housekeeping, friendly visiting in person and by phone, respite care, and ramp building. All of these efforts are designed to help enable those served maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life in their own homes. The services provided by Circle of Caring are coordinated by Berger Health System with support from United Way of Pickaway County, local churches and the community at large. All funds contributed to COC are received and administered by Berger Health Foundation, a 501c(3) organization. All the funds raised remain in the county.
