Berger Health System to Open New Medical Facility

Circleville, OH - September 30, 2006 Berger Health System will open a 33,000 square foot medical building in northwest Pickaway County, along State Route 104, in December 2007. The facility, to be named the Berger Medical Center, will offer a broad array of outpatient diagnostic and treatment services including diagnostic imaging (X-ray, CT, ultrasound, mammography, and bone densitometry), echocardiography, laboratory, physical therapy, and massage therapy. The second floor of the center will house physician offices for family practice, pediatrics, general surgery, internal medicine, OB/GYN, orthopedic surgery, pulmonary medicine, and urology. Urgent care services are also planned for this site.

Healthplex Solutions, a specialized healthcare real estate development and consulting firm, has been selected to develop this medical building for Berger Health System on land owned by the Berger Health Foundation. The outpatient facility on State Route 104 near the Franklin County line will serve residents of the rapidly growing northern Pickaway County area as well as the southwest Franklin County/Grove City area. Berger's objective is to create high quality healthcare services that meet the needs of this population. Healthplex Solutions was selected for this project because of its significant healthcare project experience and understanding of the needs of today's physicians. The principals of Healthplex have been involved with more than $2.5 billion of healthcare construction project management and currently manage more than 1.5 million square feet of medical buildings for hospitals and health systems.

Trinity Health Group was selected as the architect and Miles-McClellan as the construction manager for the project. The groundbreaking for the project will occur on Oct. 9 at 10 a.m.

In 1997, Berger Hospital began to do business under the "umbrella" name Berger Health System (BHS) to better reflect the distinct healthcare programs and corporations created by Berger Hospital during the 1990s. Berger Hospital is a 94-bed public, tax exempt, acute care hospital. It is the only city-county owned hospital in Ohio, operating under Chapter 749 of the Ohio Revised Code.
