Berger Recognizes Employees of the 2nd Quarter

Circleville, OH -- September 16, 2005 Tonya Black, PCT, and Kara Maddux were recently named the Employees of the 2nd Quarter at Berger Health System.

Tonya Black is a patient care tech on the Med-Surg Unit at Berger Hospital and has worked there since May 2000. Her duties include assisting with orientation and continuing education for patient care techs, assisting with staff scheduling and assignments, monitoring staff performance, and providing communication tools for enhancement of patient/staff safety and improved customer satisfaction. In addition, she continues to provide patient care and support to her co-workers.

According to Deirdre Fisher, Director of Inpatient Services, "Tonya has taken the lead role as PCT and has been instrumental in implementing many positive changes on the Med-Surg Unit. She continually works to improve the PCT's skill levels and provides outstanding care to her patients. She has received numerous awards for her efforts, recognized by both her peers and patients. Tonya has raised the bar for performance on the unit, and her dedication and outstanding customer service make her deserving of this award."

Kara Maddux has worked at Berger for five years and is the Quality Management Specialist in the Quality Management Department.

She is responsible for dashboard metrics, incident reporting, performance improvement, Joint Commission preparation and activities, and special projects to improve Berger's overall quality and performance.

According to Brenda Strittmatter, Vice President of Quality Management, "Kara is dedicated to quality improvement and puts forth outstanding initiative. She is creative and organized, and she always goes the extra mile to get the job done."

Both employees received $100, a designated parking space at the hospital for the quarter, and a plaque.
