Press Releases
Circleville, OH -- May 16, 2005
Berger Health Foundation Board recently approved its first gift to Berger Hospital, purchasing equipment for the hospital's
Cardiac Rehab, Maternity, and Emergency Departments. Although the Foundation has existed for only one year, generous support from
foundation members and the community made this gift possible.
Joe Barylak, Berger Vice President, commented that "funds provided by donors to the Foundation have enabled us to purchase
much-needed patient care equipment that would have otherwise been deferred or perhaps not purchased. It's gratifying to see the
level of support the Foundation has received. Pickaway County residents truly value having the best possible healthcare
available locally."
The Berger Health Foundation was established in 2004, to help raise money to support the mission of Berger Hospital. Donations
to hospital foundations are typically made by direct donations of cash, securities, bequests or trusts.
Another initiative the Foundation is currently working on is its $50,000 capital campaign to construct an outpatient cancer
center on the first floor of the Noecker Building. To date, $42,000 has been pledged, including a major gift from the Charles
Bradley family in memory of Debra Kuhn Bradley. The Foundation is seeking additional donors to secure the remaining $8,000
prior to starting construction this summer.
Barylak noted the cancer center is a very important program for Berger Hospital and the communities we serve. "Making outpatient
cancer care available locally has been a priority for the past five years," Barylak said. "With Dr. Sushil Jain's (medical
oncologist & hematologist) arrival last June, we were able to move ahead to create the facilities necessary for him and his
patients."
