Circleville, OH -- June 27, 2005
Betty Barnes, nutritional services lead at Berger Health System, was recently recognized as one of four finalists for the Ohio
Hospital Association's Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award.
This award is given annually to recognize employees of Ohio hospitals and health care systems who are outstanding health care
workers as demonstrated by leadership, reflecting the values and ideals of Ohio's health care facilities, going above and beyond
the call of duty, giving back to the community and overcoming odds to succeed.
Every Ohio hospital was invited to nominate one person for the prestigious award. All 66 nominees were recognized on Monday, June
20 at the OHA Annual Recognition Dinner at the Hilton at Easton.
Barnes has worked at Berger Health System for eight years, where she is known for her commitment to put others above herself. She is a
"go-to" person in the nutritional services department and is always among the first to initiate opportunities for improvement.
Barnes' motivation to help others is evident by the countless hours she contributes to the local Community Kitchen, where she led
Berger's involvement and organizes meals for over 50 needy community members three times a week. Despite the many obstacles she has
encountered throughout her life, Barnes embraces each day and is passionate about her role at Berger Health System and within the
community.
