Press Releases
Circleville, OH -- September 27, 2004
In recognition of National Physical Therapy Month, Mayor Jean Droste presented Gunni Long, Berger Health System's Rehabilitation
Services Clinical Director, a proclamation declaring October as "Physical Therapy Month" in Circleville.
Berger's Physical Therapy Program plays an integral role in continued efforts to provide care and assistance, coordinate activities,
and disseminate information to promote fitness and good health.
To celebrate Physical Therapy Month, Berger's Physical Therapy Department will offer the "Pay a Buck" program to their patients
through Oct. 31. Each patient can choose one exercise to be performed by the therapist (or with the therapist) for one dollar.
All program proceeds will be donated to the Circle of Caring, a program to assist the elderly and people with disabilities to
maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life in their own homes.
This year's National Physical Therapy Month theme is "Physical Therapy: Get Fit for Life." It was chosen to reflect the American Physical
Therpay Association's efforts and goals to help address our nation's obesity epidemic. With more and more citizens looking to establish
new healthy lifestyles, the goal is to educate them about the importance of safe exercise, especially for people who have pre-existing
conditions such as overweight or diabetes.
