Five days before her due date, Shauna (Dixon) Cupp went into labor and delivered the 2004 New Year's Baby at Berger Hospital's
Maternity Center.
Baby girl Katie Jean Cupp was welcomed into the world on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 3:47 p.m. Weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces and measuring
18.5" in length, Katie was delivered by Dr. David Goldfarb, M.D.
This was Cupp's first delivery at Berger and having the New Year's baby just added to the excitement.
"Everyone and everything has been great," said Cupp. "All the nurses have been very helpful, and they have been there for me
in a 'split-second.'"
To celebrate Katie's arrival as the first baby born in Pickaway County in 2004, Cupp and her husband Wade received a variety
of donated gifts from local businesses.
"We are very excited, along with shocked, that no one else had the New Year's Baby yet," Cupp commented. "We would like to thank
everyone for being so generous. It is all so very much appreciated."
Gifts included announcement cards from Crown Printing; two one-week passes from the Pickaway County YMCA; $50 savings bond from
US Bank; two bibs, brag book and picture frame from As We Grow; six month subscription from The Circleville Herald; baby time
capsule and stuffed animal from Berger Hospital Gift Shop; baby shoes certificate from Block's Shoes; hand and body lotion from
Especially For You; stuffed animal from Maggie & Me; receiving blankets and boo bunnie ice pack from Something Different;
memory book from Treasure Isle; slippers for mom from Sharff's Fashion, Inc.; picture frame from E.M. Smith Jewelers; gift basket
from Royal Gardens; blanket, washcloths and rubber duck from Peebles; scrapbook album from Scrappin' Time; gold name plate from
Sharon's Trophies; handmade baby afghan from Betty Palmer. Berger Hospital Volunteer; and a flower arrangement from Wagner's
Flowers & Gifts.
Katie joins siblings James (18), Josh (17), Lindsey (12), Jarred (11) and Jacob (9). Grandparents are Chris and Phyllis Adams
and Paul and Janet Allison of Circleville.
Berger welcomes the 2004 New Year's Baby and wishes to thank the local businesses for their participation in the New Year's Baby
celebration.
